VoiceAble AI (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users (“you,” “parents,” “teachers,” and “students”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our mobile application (the “App”).
This App is built heavily for specialized education, including accessibility features and AI-assisted learning. We specifically ensure compliance with global data protection standards, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide Us Directly
Account Information: When an Educator or Parent creates an account, we collect an email address and a password or use Google Authentication.
Profile Data: Student profiles may contain a display name (which does not need to be a real, legally identifiable name), age bracket, or customized learning preferences to tailor the AI generation.
User-Generated Content: Text prompts used by educators to generate specialized lesson plans and quizzes.
B. Device & Sensor Data (Crucial Accessibility Disclosures)
Camera Data (Head Tracking): VoiceAble AI features hands-free navigation utilizing facial landmark detection (via Google ML Kit/ARCore) to translate head movements into on-screen cursor control. We do NOT record, stream, save, or transmit any video feed or facial biometric data to any external server. All facial tracking and movement extraction is strictly processed locally on your device in real-time and immediately discarded.
Text-to-Speech (TTS): The App processes on-screen text to deliver audio read-aloud functionality. This is processed using your device’s built-in Android TTS engine.
C. Automatically Collected Information
Usage Data: Generalized, anonymized analytics regarding app crashes, performance metrics, and feature usage to help us improve the App.
2. How We Use the Information
We use the collected information solely for the following purposes:
1. To Provide Core Services: Enabling secure logins, rendering personalized learning modules, and synchronizing AI lessons across devices via Google Firebase.
2. To Power AI Generation: The topics and preferences inputted by educators are processed through Google Gemini AI to construct tailored lessons and quizzes. No personally identifiable student data is passed into the AI prompt generator.
3. To Improve Accessibility: To calibrate sensitivity and filtering for the head-tracking accessibility features.
4. To Ensure Security: Monitoring for fraudulent activity and ensuring data integrity within our cloud architecture.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We only share information with robust, industry-standard third-party service providers required to operate the App:
Google Firebase (Firestore & Authentication): Used to securely store user credentials, lesson content, and progress states. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Google Gemini AI Services: Used strictly for generating text-based educational content based on teacher inputs.
Google Play Services: Used for app integrity, licensing, and crash reporting.
4. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
VoiceAble AI is designed with student safety as a primary mandate.
No Direct Child Accounts: Students access the App via secondary profiles managed by verified Educator or Parent accounts.
No Targeted Advertising: We do not display dynamic third-party advertisements.
Data Minimization: We only collect the minimal amount of data necessary for the educational ecosystem to physically function.
Parental Rights: Parents or guardians can request the review, modification, or deletion of any data associated with their child’s profile by contacting us.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your data only for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide you the App’s services.
You may request complete account deletion from within the App’s settings or by contacting us directly.
Upon deletion, all associated Cloud Firestore entries, saved lessons, and profiles are permanently erased.
6. Security
We use commercially acceptable, robust security measures (including Google Cloud’s native encryption and strict IAM security rules) to protect your Personal Information. However, no absolute system of electronic transmission over the internet is completely error-free or 100% secure.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or updating the “Effective Date” at the top of this document.
